CLP Pirate Community…We need your help!
We are planning our Pirate Plank Walk fundraiser on April 22nd.
To make the day a special event, students can earn prizes.
Please help us with donations of gift certificates for adventures like climbing, paddle boarding, rafting, Escape Rooms, new sport equipment, or cash so we can shop for you. Any items big or small, or activities your child loves can be a part of our prizes.
100% of ALL donations go directly to students.
If you’d like to contribute on behalf of your business, or work for one that would be interested in joining our event, we can include your logo and name. We would also love to offer some snacks after students finish their run. If you can help with this, please contact us!
Drop off any donations, any time at the Front Office. Make sure to mention it is for our Plank Walk.
Please reach out to Friends of CLP at FriendsofCLPM@gmail.com or contact our school at 970-488-7400 with questions.
Friends of CLP Volunteer Organization
Hello Fellow CLP Middle School parents and caregivers! Your Friends of CLP-Parent Organization has planned some opportunities for you to show your appreciation and support of our amazing teachers and staff during this holiday season.
Teacher and Staff Gift Baskets
Teachers work hard to make things happen in our classrooms everyday. Forget a pencil? They have some, need the perfect book? They can find it. Let’s help our teachers and staff this season by creating gift baskets. Some items can support our kids and some help teachers be their best.
Please pick up a few extra items this week. We have 43 teachers and staff this year.
- Mechanical pencils
- Sticky notes
- Dry-erase markers
- Chocolate/sweet treats (individually wrapped or bagged) Snacks (individually wrapped or bagged)
- $5-$10 gift cards
- Gift cards for new books
- Nice hand sanitizer
- Individually wrapped snacks (nuts, bars, cookies, etc)
- Thank you or blank cards
- Your ideas…. please contribute what works for you!
Cash donations are appreciated. All money donated will be used to purchase additional items to fill these baskets.
We will be collecting basket donations at morning drop off from 7:45-8 AM on Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th. You can send items with your child to bring to the front office if you arrive at a different time.
Teacher and Staff Lunch Thursday 12/16
Friends of CLP parents will provide hot lunch items for a tasty taco bar. You are invited to drop off any sides, snacks, drinks or your family’s favorite sweets and treats. These will be for adults, not students, so you are welcome to bring in store bought or homemade food.
Cards or personal email messages are also highly encouraged. If you can’t bring in anything that’s OK! Simply letting our teachers and staff know that we appreciate them makes a HUGE difference. Here is a link to the school directory if you’d like to email teachers and staff: https://clp.psdschools.org/index.php/directory
Your items can be sent in with your child/ren and dropped off at the front office anytime on or before the 16th. If you are bringing items that need space in a fridge, please bring those the morning of the 16th.
Thank you for being such an important part of our CLP Pirate Community and making a difference!
If you have any questions, please contact Angela at FriendsofCLPM@gmail.com
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We are a support system for CLP Middle School made up of parents, guardians, and community members that are dedicated to improving, supporting and appreciating our students, teachers and staff.
Email us! We are a group of amazing people who work full time, part time, stay-at-home and everything in between. We want to hear from you. Interested in making our Fall Carnival better, helping make food for teachers when they stay late, help at dances, just be informed? We want you in our Pirate family. So, contact us and get on our list!
Friends of CLP is our school PTO, but we are not your typical parent organization. Middle School is different from Elementary School and we do a lot, but a bit more behind the scenes. We are all parents, grandparents, caregivers and more just getting through this crazy transition that is Middle School and we are here for you, our teachers, our children and our school. So, please let us know that you are interested and we can make sure to find something that works! We look forward to hearing from you.
WHY VOLUNTEER IN MIDDLE SCHOOL?
Why Involvement Matters
Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education, the children are more likely to:
• earn better grades.
• score higher on tests.
• pass their classes.
• attend school regularly.
• have better social skills.
• show improved behavior.
• be more positive in their attitude toward school.
• complete homework assignments.
• graduate and continue their education.
A Significant Difference
One study found that students from families with above-average parent involvement were 30 percent more successful in school than those with below-average involvement. Success was measured by GPA; test scores in math, science, reading, and social studies; promotion and retention rates; and teacher ratings. Another study found that in schools where teachers reported high levels of outreach to parents, test scores grew at a rate 40 percent higher than in schools that reported low levels of outreach to parents. A three-year study of 12,000 high school student concluded that "When parents come to school regularly, it reinforces the view in the child's mind that school and home are connected and that school is an integral part of the whole family's life.”
Friends of CLP and Meetings
We meet 6-8 times throughout the year at CLP. Some meetings are in the afternoons and others are in the evening.
Meeting dates and times will be posted through our Principal’s Message, on our CLP MS VOLUNTEER Home page link, in the CLP Newsletter ‘Friends of CLP’ Section and through email from the Executive Board.
You can choose to help at a single event, for a single day, at ongoing projects or working with school staff. We will let you know when to meet up and help out! Make sure to contact us so we can get in touch with you.
Throughout the year you can always add extra events or change plans and be removed from a sign-up.
WHEN YOU ARE READY….
Volunteers in Poudre School District MUST be registered with the school district. If you are interested in doing anything more than dropping off some food or donations, then you need to go through our simple PSD registration.
This is an easy process that takes only a few minutes.
Once registered you will have access to opportunities at a specific school or schools of your choice, or district-wide.
