The Visual Arts Program at CLP offers several courses for students.
Art Activity and Appreciation for 6th Grade
Art appreciation and history are correlated with studio art, which emphasizes the elements of art including line, shape, color, value, texture, form and space. The principals of design are also studied including balance, movement, rhythm, contrast, emphasis, pattern and unity.
7th and 8th Grade
7th and 8th grade students can take Art 1, Art 2 and Pottery Sculpture.
Art 1 focuses on drawing and painting skills as well as an introduction to impressionism and surrealism styles.
Art 2 introduces lessons in watercolor, printmaking, collage, and graphic design.
Pottery and Sculpture gives students the opportunity to learn craftsmanship in ceramics including all major hand building skills as well as wheel throwing. Paper mâché and other sculpture materials are also used in Pottery and Sculpture.
